In Psalm 122, David wrote, “I was glad when they said unto me, let us go up to the house of the Lord.” Since March we have not physically been together in God’s House on Spa Road. However, we have stayed close through the gift of technology that has enabled us to worship online. Additionally, the strong work of our church family has continued through these months in many different ways. But throughout, we have kept an eye on a possible time when we could come back to the house of the Lord, realizing that a modified reopening will look and feel much different. Further, we realize that many (especially those who may be more vulnerable) will desire to wait, especially in light of the fact that virtual worship and outdoor communion options remain.
Our COVID 19 Task Force has remained hard at work for the last several months. They have helped guide our school in crafting a plan (approved by local health officials) for a modified re-opening after Labor Day. Additionally, the Task Force has forged the plan for a modified reopening for Sunday morning in-person worship. We have set the date for this modified re-opening as Sunday, September 20th. Of note, in-person worship will only be at 10 am on Sundays. I invite you to read the plan below with special emphasis on the “Summary of Modifications to Worship to all Re-opening” since this will help people know what to expect. My deepest thanks to the Task Force for their ongoing hard work.
